Heavy downpour has been experienced in the coastal region of Kenya causing floods in lowland areas. Several people have since remained indoors because they have been unable to access the markets. The business people are also afraid that business will go down if the rains prolonged, they also accused the county government of Mombasa for unpreparedness. Several streets are also unaccessible with poor draining having to blame as the major cause of water clogging.

Flash floods

The Metrological department in Kenya had issued warning of heavy rain and flash floods in Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Southern parts of Tana River and Lamu counties. It's anticipated that the rains will continue for the next 3 days. This comes a time when several parts in Mt Kenya region goes without rain with crop failure being reported.
